The Annan River is one of the largest in the area. Cooktown itself derives its water supply at times from this river. A large sandy beach beachhead exists where the river meets the sea. Ideal for fishing as it takes minutes to change from river to beach fishing.
Archer Point on the southern side of Mt Cook has one of the best views of the region. There are many areas to have a quiet BBQ and to spend the afternoon fishing with fantastic views of the ranges throughout the Daintree National Park.

Located on the peninsula side of Cooktown this small bay provides a large white sandy beach as well as a place to explore around the rocks on your way to Cherry Tree Bay.

This bay is popular for both fishing and swimming. Care must be taken with stingers and crocs however your biggest danger is putting your back out fighting a Barramundi.
This is the northern end of the beach in Finch Bay. Some locals say it is safe to swim here so if you choose to enter the water at Finch Bay then keep to the north.
The southern part of Finch Bay is an excellent place to try your luck with fishing while the less interested can relax on the white sand nearby. Be very careful here and do not swim in the creek as this is croc territory around the stream area.
