This building started life as the Post & Telegraph office in 1876. It later became the Council Offices after they moved in after the devastating town fire of 1893.
Visitors can see what a real gold town bank felt like from back in the real gold rush days in this former Queensland National Bank. Built in 1886, today it is still has much of the original fittings including the red cedar counters and is open to visitors.

This magnificent old gold rush era building was first built as the 'Whitehorse Hotel' in 1885 only to be rebuilt into the 'Commecial Hotel' until it was renamed its current name 'Cooktown Hotel' in 1981.
The hotel was one of Cooktown's pioneers of the gold rush and has been trading since 1873.
